Hello Cakers,
Does anyone know how or figure out how these were created? It's appeared several times this week in the "Popular Easter Cake Photo section. I've sent a pm to the originator of this, but I don't think she frequents this site. Haven't heard back. Any ideas/tips would be appreciated.

The ears are 1/2 large marshmallow each.
I can't see the noses, do they look like this?

Thanks, chilz822 and 7yyrt; both of your ideas are great. Here's a better picture (I think icon_biggrin.gif). I'm also trying to figure out what the whiskers are made of. Any more ideas?

If the licorice doesn't work.....use spagetti....painted black.

I think it looks like white chocolate cheeks and toothpick whiskers.

I would think if you take two black toothpicks and cross them then pipe the cheeks out of white chocolate and stick on the nose and a mini marshmallow for the tooth you could do them all ahead of time than just pop them on to the cupcakes. You can make fondant eyes and the marshmallow ears ahead of time too....
Cute cupcakes!

these are adorable...i might need to try to copy this idea in the next week or two!

it looks like slices of large marshmallows for the ears, piped frosting for the cheeks, a M&M for the nose (or some kind of coated candy), and a mini marshmallow for the mouth. Not sure on the eyes...could just be fondant cutouts.

It doesn't look like the whiskers in the picture go straight through b/c they don't line up properly to be connected like an X...but I bet you could do that with chocolate if you wanted, or pretzel sticks, or like pp said toothpicks or spaghetti.

Let us know how they turn out!

I just remembered that I recently saw a commercial for "strawberry" marshmallows that were pink. I bet those would be a fun idea for the ears.

The eyes look like chocolate covered sunflower seeds ( available online ). You SHOULD NOT use toothpicks for the whiskers!!!!!!, especially if children will be eating the cupcakes. There is licorice that you can pull off strings from them. This would be perfect for the whiskers.
