I so wish i could have one, i have the large wilton one which is not bad but could be better.
I promised myself the next oversized wedding cake I got an order for I'd order one -- and I got several oversized wedding cakes coming up this Fall, so I'm planning on ordering mine this week -- before the shipping rates go up in May!!
I have that miserable wire thing from Wilton right now, and for the amount of cakes I do, I will probably suffer with that for the time being. But the Agbay sure does look like a slick piece of equipment!
i have the Wilton one right now, and have been able to make it work for me. I have decent, but not perfect, results if the cake has been frozen for 2 days, thawed in the refrigerator for a day, then let come to room temp on the kitchen table. seriously...it took me a year to figure that out until I can get the Agbay.
He he he, I must admit I am VERY excited right now -- I just wrote the check for my brand spankin new Agbay deluxe (complete with all the bells and whistles!) I have to say I've wanted that bad boy since I did that Towering Inferno cake (in my pix.) I decided after that cake that the next jumbo cake order I got I was going to splurge on an Agbay!! And low and behold, time, opportunity and $$$ all aligned with the stars and here I am!! How cool is that??
I refuse to use the wilton leveler, I use a serrated knife instead using both I never have a level cut. I cannot wait to get this new leveler my birthday is coming early this year. Thanks for the info
Anyone who is undecided - go for it! I just used mine for the first time and I love, love, love it! WOW I cannot believe what a perfect cut I got! Just awesome!

Well you all seem to love your Agbay and I love mine but I do have a slight problem. If I was to cut straight across the cake in a sawing motion the middle of the blade seems to ride up and by the time I am to the other side the cake is not level. The way I now do it is start at the corner of a square cake and go slightly through and then onto the next corner until I have done all the corners and trying to go through to meet in the middle. Same with the round cakes. I even use it on fruit cakes and find I have to hold the blade in a bit on each end to stop it pushing up. Other than that I am really pleased with it and have had it for a few years. Does anyone else have this problem?
Brairview - are you sure you have an AGBAY? THat sound more like the large wilton cake leveler.

Yes Karon it is definitely an Agbay. I think the lady's name was Maureen and I got the single blade one as well as an extra blade and the white cleaner rod. The blade was encased in a grey pipe.
Receive mine in the mail two days ago - can't wait to use it. I have to say that Maureen was the sweetest person to deal with on the phone.
I got my Agbay a few weeks ago and I LOVE IT!!! It makes everything stress free almost.I honestly couldn't believe how easy it was to use.

Where should I level my blade prior to using the sps (it's four inches), and how thick should my filling be?
I'm so nervous to use the sps, but the Agbay makes me feel a lot better.

Oh mama, I'm in LOVE!! I got my brand spankin new Agbay deluxe and this thing is SWEET! I do have a question though -- this is sooo unlike any other cake leveler I've used, are there any tricks to using it? I'm asking because I find it a bit intimidating and a little scary with those blades and all. (If I can hurt myself, I do!) Any suggestions??

I put it off and put it off and struggled and struggled about ordering one, but since I have had my Agbay I have no regrets! I love it! It makes a world of difference and has been oh so worth it. I have to say of my cake tools it is in my top 5 - I wouldn't want Betsy (my Kitchenaid) to be jealous.

Hubby tried to talk me into the Matrellato to save some $$ and I convinced him that I NEEDED the Agbay because it was the one tool that I've never heard negative reviews on. The Martellato really looks NOTHING like the Agbay.
The Agbay has blades that look like hacksaws, I mean WICKED looking. It's also got measurements on the inside and outside (I have the deluxe) to make sure your blades are level and even.
To me, the Martellato just looks like a pricey Wilton.
I put off buying the Agbay for months and months because there were so many other cool things I wanted (airbrush, edible image printer, etc etc). I should have bought the Agbay first. It's not glamorous, but it is SO unbelievably awesome. I use it on every cake (unlike that airbrush) and it always has perfect results (unlike that edible image setup).

Briarview, your cake MUST be on a level surface AND you have to make sure that you're not putting uneven pressure on your cake when you're using your Agbay. I was absolutely baffled the first time I used mine and my cake was "lumpy" on top. I was pressing down on top of the cake while cutting and didnt stop to consider that I was compressing it in some places and not in others.
Also, if your cake board is not level, your results will be off
