I am a newbie, and have a question about the Gumpaste/Fondant molds.

When you use Fondant or Gumpaste items on your cakes do you mostly make them yourselves or use a mold??

The cakes that I have made in the past, I mostly try and make the items myself... but I am no artist and have been looking at the molds. Of course, the ones I have seen are VERY expensive. I recently received a catalog and these people have 3-D candy molds that are not too expensive.... could these be used??

Before I purchased some. I was wondering what everyone else used.

Hi Rhonda, most of the accents that go on my cakes are made by me. Sometimes, I use moulds. I think you can use candy moulds. If you dust it properly with cornstarch and then put the gumpaste (I always use gumpaste) in the mould. When you put cornstarch its very easy to take it out.
