I am making a wedding cake for a friend. She has purchased a 20 in square silver plateau. What size cake would I use for the bottom tier? Please help. I need to buy the pans and the wedding is in 5 weeks!! Thanks....I am such an amatuer!!
Sorry it has taken so long for anyone to answer your ? but sometimes we are all busy with other things. I just now saw your post.
It really depends on how many servings of cake they want.
The smallest I would suggest would be 14" but a 16" sq would look better.
Yeah, 14 or 16" will be fine.... but how much do you need to feed? You still want the whole cake part to look proportional from top tier to bottom.... the stand doesn't have to fit right into the pattern.
My bad kakeladi...I didn't mean to make it sound like that...I apologize. I am just getting antsy.
The cake plateau is 20 inches...she wants 4 tiers and she needs to feed between 300 and 350. She is inviting 350 people. Thanks for your help!
