I was wondering if anyone has mixed together buttercream and pastry pride or bettercream, just to lighten it up a bit. It would be less sweet, I haven't tried it yet, but was wondering if someone could say how it performed on a wedding cake. Like for smoothing, taste, I know I should just give it a try, but don't want to waste a batch if it didn't work.So if anyone has tried this, I'd love to know how it worked, how it held up.

I tried it once and it turned out fine. Certainly smoothed out the icing. BTW, I used Frosting Pride.

If you don't like the way it goes on, you could always use it as a filling! With Nutella added, yummmmm

I have-I do bettercream and add some regular BC to it and then whichever flavoring and it turns out fine. I whip the BC and then add the prewhipped bettercream. The other way to do it would be to whip the BC and then grradually add the bettercream-havent tried it yet, but think the first way is the best. Good luck!
