I've made quite a few 'stand up' cakes before (I collect 'vintage' cake pans/molds) and have also used several Wilton 'stand up' cake pans before... This is the FIRST time I've ever had a disaster.

First time using the 'Rubber Ducky' stand up cake pan....baked at 350 for 50 minutes... the bottom part likes fine but the 'top' part (in the mold) 'popped' up, cracked, and did not bake evenly in the mold.

I used a Betty Crocker box mix, which I've used before on other cakes and never had problems.

I wonder if I overmixed the cake?

This pan doesn't use clips, I was thinking of using twine to tie the pans 'closed' together...?

I'm hoping I have time tomorrow after I get home from work to do another--I'm supposed to give this to a friend Friday morning.

Ive used their lamb pan, you have to tie both ends. I just use a shoe string that I wet and tie around the the head and the backside, this way the top doesnt lift off.
