A Question With Buttercream

hi everyone!!!! i have a question. i have been making buttercream for a while now but it always turns out really airy with tons of bubbles. i have tried tons of recipes and i found one that i like but the bubbles still are in the buttercream. i dont have a kitchen aid. i just have a hand mixer but from kitchen aid. how do i get smoother frosting with a hand mixer?? with less bubbles. please help. thanks so much
