Hi
I am supposed to make a cake for a bridal shower. I found a lovely idea, thanks to the Cake Gallery, but I do have a question to run by you.

I want to put a mini bride on top, and I want to make it out of Gumpaste/Fondant, so the bride - to - be can keep it for awhile. I am using a doll pick for the top, but for the bottom, I was going to do was take my Mini Wonder Ball Mold ( Wilton ), fill it with fondant and mold the bottom of the dress. Then make the skirt, etc....

My question is, should I make the bottom out of gumpaste or would you make it out of styrofoam? Fondant is going to be heavy, but I really don't like the idea of sending a cake out with inedible items on it.

Should I just make it out of fondant?? and maybe put some supports underneath the doll??

Hi

I would make it out of styrofoam and then dress in a mix of half fondant and half gumpaste. THis will allow you to get it thinner and give you some flexibility when trying to arrange it before it dries. Hope this helps
