I am doing a Mickey Mouse cake for a friend's son birthday. I am making a hat for the top of the cake and wondering what would be the best thing to make the ears out of and how to attach them to the cake. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

I just saw the exact thing in the gallery. She said the ears were made of rice crispy treats.

I just made one of these last month. I made my ears out of royal icing. I drew out a template with a long tail so that I could stick that part into the cake. When it was time to stick them in, I made 2 slits with a sharp knife, and my ear slid right in. I did hear a slight crack when I tried to adjust it forward, so I immediately let go. I piped a little bit more icing behind the ear so that it would be sturdy. It survived.
