Please Help Me Make A Dark Blue Orchid

Hi everyone,
I have a book that details how to make a white one, but I need a dark blue one for a wedding cake. The pics I found online of this flower show lt blue in center, dk blue on outer portion of the petal. Do I color the gumpaste lt blue, then chalk the dk blue? Or vice versa? Or just start white and chalk everything?

id be inclined to start with a very pale blue gumpaste, and then dust it darker.
