icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_cry.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif OMG Indy..... you made me spit out my coffee on my monitor. When DH gets home from work, I usually get the kiss and the grope on the butt, and yell to the other room sometimes too!!

Kids flip out, and make that smoochy sound, then turn to each other and say "GROSS"!!! "get a room". its way too funny.

Now back to the cake issue, I haven't been asked to do a male cake yet, but I have done the boob cake. Kids laughed about it, it turned out alright, they were jealous that the birthday boy wouldn't share with everyone.

If I were asked would I do it???? Most likely I would. I seriously don't see you as a prude at all. It's like if you aren't comfortable doing another cake by request you would respectfully decline. I don't see anything with not doing it at all.!!!

I've done it before (in my photos) but that's not the strange part - my husband is the one who does all my fondant figures, including the one for this cake!! It was a blast to do this cake together. He even remade the penis 3 times because he was not satisfied with the way it looked--not realistic enough for him!

I do agree with the other posters; I would not make a cake I was uncomfortable with the content or my skill level.

I remember for my bachelorette party my girlfriend made a "figure" out of rice crispy treats, it was the funniest thing ever!

That being said, if you are uncomfortable, certainly you did the right thing in turning down the order.

If I had my own kitchen I would do a private parts cake (be it male or female) if asked, but since I borrow my brother's kitchen and often have my nieces hovering around at any given time, I won't do them.

However, even if I had my own kitchen, I will not under any circumstances make a baby shower cake which involves body parts of either the mom or the baby. I find them to be incredibly creepy and tacky.

I would have done it! I just made a male anatomy cake for my brother-in-law's surprise snip party (don't ask). icon_smile.gif I wasn't sure about it at first but instead of making it all veiny and realistic I made it look a little more cartoonish so it wasn't "hard" for people to look at.... lol. Couldn't resist... icon_lol.gif

I don't blame you for not wanting to make it. I couldn't do it either. I don't make any cake that grosses me out and that inlcludes babies and pregnant belly cakes. icon_smile.gif I don't look down on others who make them, it's just a matter of preference.

i made my first penis cake for a coworker's daughter's lingerie party/bridal shower and i was laughing the entire way through trying to mold it from rice krispies (i had to talk her into it letting her know that the cake would be the least embarrassing thing there and it was) i'm not sure how i managed to get it onto the cake!! lol i do agree that you need to stick with what you're comfortable with. i am totally envious of those topsyturvy cake but even if someone begged me i wouldn't want to do it (but i'd never say never and koodoos to those who can) of course i kept the penis making until after the kids were in bed

i actually felt the same way up until a couple weeks ago, i'm such a prude and didn't think i could ever agree to make a cake... until a fellow cakerator referred me to one of her 'clients'. i guess she felt uncomfortable doing it so she gave the lady my number praising me like crazy, i felt like i couldn't say no, regardless of how much of a prude i am.
the entire time i spoke with her about the cake, i felt incredibly uncomfortable, but then i got over it, realizing i should be happy for the business. and thankful that i dont live with my mom, cos then i would DEFINITELY not be able to do the cake lol

long story short, the cake went REALLY well (i'll be honest and say this was probably the one i had the least amount of problems with when covering with fondant, surprisingly enough) i didn't even have to look at porn! i just looked at all the 20 pages of male part naughty cakes on this site for inspiration! LMAO icon_biggrin.gif

next day after the party, i got tagged as the cake on facebook (not the cake board.. or anywhere else in the picture... unfortunately) and within a week i had 2 more people (from the party) ask me for non-naughty cakes! lol and there were a lot of compliments on it as well

so to answer your question lol... no, you're not a wuss. but if in the future you end up in the situation where you would feel worse about saying no then worse about the principle of what you're doing (does that make sense to anyone but me? lol), i'll tell you this. it really really isn't that bad. especially if you can get the kitchen to yourself that day.

lol.. just thought i'd share icon_biggrin.gif

I turn them down all the time, it's just not my thing...some people get upset, others respect me more for it.....it's MY business and MY preference and that is it! I also won't write sayings that I deem inappropriate on cakes....if they want it that bad they can go elsewhere, I have enough cake orders.

I think doing what you feel is right is always the correct decision!
I personally have never been put in that situation- I don't think penis cakes are the rage here in Lancaster County with all the Amish and Mennonite people! icon_biggrin.gif
For those of you worried about the kiddos... Our family was invited to my cousins birthday party last year. Needless to say the cake for the Birthday Girl was a gigantic male anatomy cake- I'm talking big... probably at least 1/2 sheet carved. My 4 year old daughter thought it was the greatest "rocket" cake in the world....LOL... the color of my Dad and Husbands faces was the deepest magenta I've seen!

Let me clarify something ... a wuss is someone who gives into pressure against their own principles.

You felt uncomfortable about doing it and you said no. A wuss would have given in and done it no matter how uncomfortable they were - and lived to regret it.

I personally don't do them and won't even do them when my kids are grown and out of the house. There's nothing wrong with that and if someone wants it that bad, I don't feel bad about them going to someone else.

It's not that I am a prude... I do the "naked mom coming through" thing too (though my kiddos are young and don't care just yet icon_lol.gif). I even let them look at art with genitals and breasts exposed. It's definitely not about body shame for me. We all use the proper words for genitals... no wee wee's or cha cha's in this house... icon_wink.gif. I just have no desire to make them. Maybe if it were just a penis without with extras like the writing looking like "cream of wheat" it wouldn't be so bad... I am a home baker though and my kids will see it and I just don't feel like dealing with them going to school and talking about the 2 foot penis that mom made this weekend... icon_lol.gificon_redface.gif I suppose if someone really REALLY begged and were willing to pay me well I just might, but for now I'm saying no. I am also not in a position where not doing the penis cake would mean not paying the electric bill.

I wouldn't do it. I think genital cakes are the ultimate in bad taste.
