I'm going to attempt to make a cake similar to this one for my sister's surprise party in two weeks:

I found it on the pink cake box website (love their cakes!). It looks simple enough. Have any of you attempted this cake before? Can you show me a pic of your final product?

How much fondant do you think I will need to cover this cake? I plan to use 6/8/10 in rounds - two per layer, 4 inches per tier. I'm going to order Satin Ice for the first time instead of making MMF. I'm planning to make everything except the bow.

Any additional tips or suggestions for making this cake would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

hello,

I love their cakes too! I am doing a mardi gras theme for a sweet sixteen, but its a topsy turvy cake!

Anyway for fondant, for 10 x 4 you'll need 36 oz, rolled out 26" to cover both layers

8" = 24 oz and rolled out to 24 inches

6" = 18 oz package and rolled out to 22"

This is all according to Wilton 2009 book -- Hope this helps you; I've used this method always works -- have fun!
