I saw a cake that I love on here, and the decorator said she used chocolate fondant. My questions are, does anyone have a failproof good tasting recipe for chocolate fondant? Also, could I use chocolate ganache instead of chocolate fondant? I know how to make ganache, and I know it hardens, but am not sure how smooth and flawless it will look when fondant decorations are added. Your input is appreciated! Thanks for your help!

Hi there, I never make my fondant. So I don't have a chocoalate fondant recipe. Have you tried chocopan?

You can use ganache. Here is a link from Sugarshack's blog,

cake.html

You need to go down a bit to get to the ganache info.

I used fondant flowers on chocolate ganache, and nothing bad happened.
At least in my case.

I have made chocolate fondant by adding maybe 1/4 cup of cocoa powder to my MMF recipe. I used this for my ex SIL wine bottle cake and it turned out great. (which for some reason won't post, but I'll try again.. icon_biggrin.gif ) I don't have the recipe at hand, but I'm sure you can find it on here...and Good Luck with your cake!

I use satin ice chocolate fondant. It tastes just like a tootsie roll.
