What kind of wire is safe to stick in the top of a cake with balls of fondant? I have seen this on so many photos on this site and want to try it on my next cake. Thanks for the help!

No wire is food safe....if you want to stick wire into your cake, I would use straws or flower pics to avoid having the wire touch cake. You can fill in any extra room in the pics with melted chocolate or candy melts.

Would you be able to use stainless steel wires? (silverware is stainless steel) Copper or brass? (our pipes in our homes are made of these) Just a thought. Of course you would have to wash them to get any kind film that might be on them from manufacturing. icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks. Those flower pics are a great idea. I never thought of doing something like that!
