On that episode Duff and another decorater were in LA for the premiere of one of the Harry Potter movies. He drove a moving van across country with the cake in the back...or rather the styrofoam cake. icon_rolleyes.gif anyway when he was doing all the final cake and landscaping..trees etc at the kitchen he spread this huge green icing strip down and apparently when it dries he rolls the trees in them to look more realistic..the icing turns like a powder sort of..I'm not sure what it is..

Does anyone know what he used and how would one make it?

I thought it was RI, dried and then crushed into a powder. Interesting technique.

I just watched that episode on my DVR and I thought that was a really awesome technique. I'm trying to think of something else I could use it for other than trees. Any ideas?

I think that he uses the same thing for the Kung Fu Panda premiere. I just watched it online. He had dried RI and used a bench scraper to break it up. He used it as moss.

It works for sand, snow, dirt, short animal fur (the white on a panda) anytime you want to crumbly look. All you do is vary the coarsness and color. Add disco dust, luster dust etc.
