I have only ever used cake mixes up to this point, b/c I have been trying to perfect my decorating.

However, with this first wedding cake I am doing it is going to be a topsy I know that I need to use a good recipe for a dense cake that can be carved.

What are the best carve-able cake recipes outside of the WASC (I think that is the right abbreviation).

I am doing my first topsy turvy today :S for my niece's 15th bday party. I think I've heard around here that the WASC cake and variations work great! HTH

We always use the WASC cake when we make anything I am going to carve. It is not my favorite white cake, but everyone loves it. It carves well, but I find that keeping them in the freezer for just a couple minutes prior to cutting really helps, I might try this on my regular white cake. But yeah in a fix, I always use wasc, can't go wrong with that.
