requested a two tier cake for shower....I will not be transporting it...It will feed 40 people...will do a 12 inch and 8 inch....double layers torted. I think this sie will look ok and give the extra to take home? Now would you use the heavy duty thick sucker sticks on bottom to support top tier..do I really need to dowel both tiers together? or should I go with smaller pan size...:thanks

I've never used sucker sticks. I use plastic dowels. I don't dowel them together as I've always assembled the cake on-site.

I use regular straws or bubble tea straws. I have transported on close to our size. I used regular dowels for support and then 1 right through both. If I hadn't had to haul so much luggage at the same time, I would have stacked them on site.

as I said I will not be going to shower so I cannot assemble onsite...just need to know it will be secure.
