Help With Cream/goat Cheese Icing

So I made the cream/goat cheese icing from bakerella's website, and I don;t think the consistency is quite right. After I put it onto the cupcakes, it melted (cupcakes were cool)! Should I put it in the fridge before decorating the cupcakes with it? Or should I add something to the frosting to make it stiffer. I would prefer not to add any more icing sugar as it is REALLY sweet already.
