I see that a lot of CCer's use a mud cake. I have a couple of questions regarding them.
Most of the recipes on here are in metric measurements for Mud cake recipes. Is this a European type cake?
What exactly makes a mud cake a mud cake?
I would like to try this recipe but not sure how to use one that is in metrics? Can it easily be converted to American measurements?
Thanks!! Sandi
The mud cakes commonly referred to on CC are primarily from Australia or New Zealand, although there are several versions of U.S. mud cakes (Mississippi mud being the first one that comes to mind).
What is a mud cake:
(Very like fudge brownies made with chocolate not cocoa, coffee and/or liquor.)

FYI, boonenat's muds should be baked at 320 F, not 360 F.

Early Happy Birthday, Jan!
My brother's b'day is also on Valentines Day!
Most of the world will be celebrating with you in some way or another.
Thanks so much, omnicake.
My DH and I are starting our two day trip back to IN on Fri., so we'll spend my birthday "on the road".... But I just had the greatest present being here with my son and his lovely wife for the birth of their little girl, Victoria Rose.
Thanks so much, vickymacd. )
It's been fun having a Valentine's birthday! Hope your brother enjoys his special day.
BTW, I have a twin sister who likes to say that we're "naturally born sweethearts".
