Just a quick question, is sugarpaste the same as gumpaste? I was looking at some wedding cakes on a website and it said the flowers were made of sugarpaste. It looked like gumpaste to me. Perhaps just another name for it. Thanks!

No, they're not the same.

Sugarpaste is rolled fondant.

Gum paste can be rolled fondant with certain gums (tylose, cmc, gum trag, gum tex) added for elasticity, faster drying, hardness, etc. Gum paste can also be made with powdered sugar and egg whites with the gums added.

You can cover cakes and make flowers & decos with sugarpaste. You can't/shouldn't cover a cake with gum paste.
