My brother has asked me for a graduation cake for this May. He wants a Dallas Cowboy star with a graduation hat on it. I thought maybe I could start by using doug's template for a star....but how do I go about putting a gradutaion hat on it???? I want to have a good template before I attempt to take apart a cake, and my artistic abilites are...well..not that great!
Anyone have any ideas or templates they've used for graduation hats?

How big do you intend this grad hat to be?
You can make a mini doll skirt 'cupcake' and put a fondant (7/or gumpaste) sq on it w/a tassel......simpleicon_smile.gif
Or do you want it more 2-d (laying down on the star)?

Well, the cake only needs to feed about 30 people, so I was thinking about making it around 1/2 sheet size. And, ya, I was thinking about just doing a 2d cake, since I dont have too much experience with 3d cakes, but your idea sounds good too!
