I was asked if I could do something for a centerpiece for our local high school's prom. Any good, creative ideas? Not sure what they are thinking, told them I would "think on it". Cupcakes, truffles, mini desserts?

Mini eclairs
Mini cream puffs
Macarons http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaron
Madeleines http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madeleine_(cake)

petit fours glace (these are the iced mini cakes we think of as petit fours in the US)
mini tarts
meringues
filled lady fingers
mini cheese cakes

to me Paris is black and white and there is a lovely black and white cupcake bouquet in the pictures! I'll try to post the link...

Thanks for all the great ideas. I was kind of thinking the mini desserts, too. Thanks for all the links! Does anyone know where I could find cheap tiered stands that I could display them on?

You can make cake stands, use a glass plate from the dollar store and the a footed bowl, turn it upside down and glue (use an epoxy type) the 2 together. I have made them and they cost about 2.00 plus the cost of glue.

While I agree that mini desserts is totally Paris - you must consider the fact that the people who will be enjoying your creations are high school students. Maybe some fancy cupcakes would be better. That way they can enjoy the simplicity of a cupcake, yet the can have fancy Paris-inspired looking decorations. Just my opinion.
