I have seen a lot of beautiful cakes posted where folks painted on the images/decoration. I want to try this!!! Where does one begin? Do I cover a cake in white fondant for the canvas and use icing colors as paints? Do I need to mix the colors with lemon juice or another medium? If the icing colors are so thick and concentrated in the painting, does it come across in the taste?

Thank you, CC members, for your help!

I have painted on ivory fondant/white fondant also with Wilton and Americolor and it didn't seem to taste too bad at all. I couldn't tell a difference. Also, I thinned it down with Vodka or lemon extract. Lemon juice is too acidic.
