I have been buying the readymade Wilton gumpaste for $8.99 a bag at my local craft store. I didn't know you could add gumtex powder to fondant to make gumpaste. I make my own MMF. So, my question to you is what do you prefer to use? Is the gumtex added to MMF cheaper? And how much do I add to the MMF to make it set properly? I did discover on my own that if I add some of the ready made gumpast to my MMF it will stiffen it up but won't dry out like plain gumpaste does. I just don't want to spend $8.99 a bag for it.

Thanks, Lisa

I'd also like to know the answer to this... so here's a bump icon_smile.gif

Does gumtex have the same effect as tylose / cmc when added to mmf? I've only tried it once and the pieces stayed soft. I may not have added enough though, can someone tell us how much to use?
