Can I use fondant and/or buttercream on a ice cream cake? What is the best thing to use to decorate a ice cream cake?

Just don't know what to do. I have a customer that wants it decorated for their sons birthday.

Need help. Thanks

You can use buttercream, but fondant won't do good in the freezer. I usually ice mine in whipped cream.

Dixie's Icing sells a icing just for that purpose. The local DQ's in Omaha use it. Here's a link to her website It's the "Special Recipe Vanilla" Taste very good and is easy to work with.

The non dairy icings (Rich's Bettercreme & Frostin Pride) are what is usually used.
