Question About Wasc Chcolate Cake...

Hi all...
For this recipe, to make it chcolate, do I just use a chocolate cake mix instead of white? Do I need to add anything else to this? And can I use vanilla extract instead of almond? I'm planning on using this recipe for carving a cake. Also I don't want to use any coffee flavoring for this, thanks.

WASC cake recipe by Kakeladi the Original

1 pkg white cake mix
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
generous dash of salt
3 whole eggs
1 cup water
1 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons almond flavoring

Here's another variation:
(Just use water if you don't wish to use coffee - although the cake doesn't have any coffee taste to me...)
