I have been asked to make a cake for the 100th day of Kindergarten. I am going to use a sheet cake that may be cut into 100 squares. I have been told I need to put an "ant" on each square. Does anyone have an idea how I could make ants from icing, or chocolate or where I could purchase some fake ants if available? I do not want to use those chocolate covered ants or any real ants. Would Royal Icing be better than butter cream for ants? Or would anyone have an idea on how to use Red Hots to make ants? Thanks.

Here is some pics with ants in them for you. I was thinking you could make your cake checkered like a picnic blanket with some fondant picnic food on it and ants all around. The ants also could be made from MMF. (three little balls in black or red placed together to make an ant! Then you could pipe on the legs with BC.

I would just pipe them.... 3 little lines with 3 blobs on top. Fast and easy (as I'm sure you aren't making a fortune on this cake icon_smile.gif )
