I'm wanting to make a shoebox and shoe cake for my sister's 30th birthday. I have a shoe mold for the shoe, but I'd like some help on how to make the box. I'm not real comfortable working with fondant, but I will. So any all techniques would be greatly appreciated. My main concern is making the lid of the box. Please help and thank you in advance.

When I made mine, I just covered the cake in fondant. Then I cut a piece of fondant in a contrasting color that was the size of the top of the cake plus 1 inch. If the top is 10x5 cut it 11x6. I placed it on top of the cake and the put a slit at the corners and folded the it around, sort of like wrapping a package. Hope that helps
