My nephews birthday is coming up and I want to make the cake but I seem to be running on empty in the ideas department.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I really like the ipod cake for the older kids....especially boys. Unless, he is a big sport fan or something? You can always do a jersey cake of his fav team or something like that. I will include a few links to some ipod cakes. Hope this helped start the ideas flowing!Oh, I just had a thought as I was looking at pics.....is he into xbox 360 or play station, Wii? Those all would be great cakes too!

I would say look at his interests... maybe an album cover of his favorite band, a skateboarding, wakeboarding, snowboarding type cake if he's into any of that. I'm trying to think of things my brothers are interested in and it's always video games, various "boarding" sports, jet ski's and/or boats and music. my cousin likes dirtbikes and my other cousin plays drums in a band so maybe just think of things like that and go from there. And if all else fails and you're doing a sheet cake, look at Cakery's stuff, she has a ton of fairly general boy themed cakes. I love her cakes.

I use the balloon writing a lot for boy teen cakes. If he has an interest, you can always add little things around it. You could do some small fondant ....sports balls...guitar....video games...ipod...skateboard...If he likes sports, you can do the writing in his favorite team colors.

Hey Jean, I was going to suggest that but couldn't find a pic to showicon_sad.gif Guess I didn't go far enough into the gallery.

an afterthought.....

I know teen boys have a lot of varied interests...but one thing they all have in common is, they love to eat and fast food is their favorite!

I know the burger cake is not a new idea, I started doing them like 25 years ago. When my grandson turned 17 he wanted an 8 patty burger cake. He and his friends loved it!

I love this one and think it's great to run with for "generic" boy ideas...

When my son turned sixteen, I made him a cake that reflected his love of martial arts:

I also did a Star Wars/Baseball themed cake... combining the boy's love of baseball with his love of Star Wars. Luke, Darth, and company were dressed in team colors (Yankees and Sox) and placed on a traditional baseball field.

Thanks for the ideas. He is into lacrosse and trumpet playing. I have done a trumpet for him in the past. He does love playing video games so I think I am going to go with either an ipod or a PS2 system.

I knew you guys wouls come through with some ideas to get me going!!!
