Most importantly, don't use a whipping cream frosting at a bake sale. You don't want to take any risk with food poisining. You can use Bettercreme or Frostin Pride as a substitute for heavy whipping cream, though, if you  have it available in your area (Smart&Final, Sam's Club).

Make a Rootbeer for the othe flavor!  You can stick a straw (cut in thirds) into them for fun. I also like to place a rootbeer barrel candy on top, but that will increase your cost.

At our bake sales at school, they are $1 each. The cupcake bakeries in town charge $2 for a regualr cupcake.

ROTBEER CUPPIES (makes 30 cupcakes)

1 box white or yellow mix

1 cup flour

1 scant cup sugar

1/2 package dry sugar-free vanilla pudding mix (3 tbls)

3/4 tsp salt

3 whole eggs

1 cup sour cream

2 tbls oil

1-1/3 c diet rootbeer soda

1 to 2 tsp rootbeer extract

Bake at 350. Start checking doneness at 12 mins.

I LOVE the banana version of WASC. Just add 3 ripe bananas to the recipe and use banana pudding mix. Using 2 tsp banana extract helps bring out the flavor, and using banana cake mix brings it all the way up to WOW!

I was just on the   https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wBMz4wGYM-f4XKECyQEodFVwB0QHjQ2xQCeMG20bmws/edit?pli=1  gourmet flavors document, and the carrot cake recipe is missing.  There's a comment below that the recipe was changed, but it's not just changed, it's missing!  Can anyone put it back?  Or post it here?  Thanks :)

Planning to make Pineapple Coconut Banana. May I ask, what filling/icing would go well with it?

Thanks in advance!

AHas anyone made the pineapple coconut banana cake? How much batter does this recipe make? Any advice on making it? My niece is having a Hawaiian graduation party, and I would like to make for her. Thanks for any info.

That's my favorite cake!  I use PIneapple supreme cake mix (DH), 3 ripe bananas, 1-1/3 c coconut creamer, and 1-1/3 c pineapple juice.  It's best if you can add a few drops of Lorann Pina Colada concentrated oil, but it is great without it.

One full recipe of the WASC (2 boxes cake mix) can fill four 7" pans, two 10" pans,... scroll down this recipe link to see other pan sizes: http://www.food.com/recipe/white-almond-sour-cream-wedding-cake-69630

AI'm so glad this old school thread was pulled up. MacsMom and Chef_Stef thank you for sharing your flavor combos. I'm always looking for unique flavors to try out. I hope to get some staples perfected and take them to the farmers market.

Has anyone tried the Root Beer Float cake? I was wondering if regular root beer float extract would work instead of the lorann drams? If so, what amount??

I would like to make this for my dad's birthday next week, he's had a really tough year, but I'm not sure I would have enough time to order the flavorings online.

Thanks!

Macsmom, I to am new to this thread and feel like I hit the mother lode.  Quick question, I see you use a lot of egg whites but not whole eggs.  Can I ask why and can I use whole eggs instead?  If so is there a formula for how many to use according to how many egg whites you use?  Again thank you so much.

Macsmom, for the Pineapple Coconut Banana cake. Do we follow the WASC recipe plus de additions for this cake?? Or do you just substitute the liquids? Sorry for the dumb question.

thanks!

I've made this cake several times.  It is a favorite of everyone I know.  I've never used root beer float extract, only the lorann drams.  I'm not sure if you're near a Hobby Lobby, but I find they carry it--no need to order online.

Good morning macsmom, this has probably been answered before but I cant seem to find it, so i will apologise now... :)  I really want to try your white chocolate truffle filling with a white choc and rasp mud cake for a cake due this Saturday, does it need to be kept in the fridge or will it be ok under fondant for 2 days. You have been so generous on this tread.. Thank you thumbs_up.gif

Love'n this thread.  Copy and pasted a lot to wordpad.  Thank you everybody.
