I got a request for a cake. They wanted it shaped like a Yamaha Rhino. I don't really know where to start with a cake like this. I've never made a vehicle of any sort before. If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it!

Do you have a photo of it that you could post?? That would be a good starting point.

this sketch may help.

build base (bottom diagram) using cut cakeboard so you have wheel wells and use hidden pillars to support off of a cakedrum so it looks like only resting on wheels.

then chop up a sheet cake in sections and lay out as shown (middle)

front end is traditional two layers (2 - 2in layers, torting and filling optional)

back is also two layers but off set! -- this requires a board between each layer so top one can cantilever off the back end.

detail out --- I'd use fondant or gumpaste covered florist wire to make the roll cage.
