Can I decorate a cookie with regular buttercream for accents after covering with rolled buttercream? I am trying my first attempt at RBC today, but would like to do detail work with regular buttercream. Thanks!! icon_biggrin.gif

I think you can use any icing medium you like to decorated on rbc, but you probably would not be able to bag them or stack them as regular buttercream does not dry hard enough.
When I am making cookies with small kids, I always use buttercream-they dont' have the patience to work with the royal.

There is also a recipe for meringue powder buttercream (which I have never tried but keep meaning to!), which I think would set much firmer.

Karen has it on her site http://www.karenscookies.net/shop//index.php?_a=viewDoc&docId=11#recipe09
