I LUV www.ask.com ! I find all kinds of cool stuff via that site? I like it because you dont' have to have just the right wording or just the right phrase.....I can type in a regular question ("How many cups in a pound of brown sugar?" ..... "what is the difference between cream of tartar and baking soda?") and find what I need. It's great!

conversions from my cookbook

Imperial measure American cups
1 lb butter/margarine 2 cups
1 lb flour 4 cups
1 lb granulated sugar 2 cups
1 lb brown sugar 2 cups
1 lb icing sugar 3 cups
1 lb rice 2-2 1/2 cups

hope it helps..I also have liquid measure from pints to ml and dry measures from oz to g.

also, it had an interesting fact 1 English cup is 10oz, while 1 American cup is 8oz. make sure if you use a recipe froman english cookbook you check your conversions
