I want to make this ahead of time and freeze it and I have never made it before.

I usually freeze the boxed mix cakes and they are fine but I was wondering if it's the preservatives that keep them fresh while frozen and the scratch recipe would obviously not have the preservatives.

Thanks!

I have frozen scratch cakes before with no problem (although, not specifically the cake you mentioned).

I've frozen that cake for a few days before. I wrap it a couple times with saran wrap and make sure it's really sealed and it's come out perfectly fine.
