I need help, this will be my first time using royal icing I made snowflakes to decorate a birthday cake. I don't know how to attach them. Should I use buttercream or more royal icing? Oh by the way the cake will be made totally out of buttercream. The party is on Sat. and I will be doing the cake on Fri., so I need help fast. Thanks!

Hi, I used buttercream to attach my RI snowflakes to a buttercream cake. I put the snowflakes on at the reception, so there was no travel w/them on the cake.

If I have royal icing left, I use that to attach it to the cake. But BC works just as well. And BC usually ends up being what I have, since the RI has to dry. Either will work.
