Keeping Cut Out Letters Straight

OK, I got my JEM tappits, and they're drying on the shiny side of freezer paper. (That tip was great. Sorry I don't remember who gave it). Now how do I get them straight on my cake, short of drawing a line in the icing. I can't even lay them out straight to dry, how am I going to put them on the cake! icon_confused.gif

Tonedna has a great video to show how not to mess them up.
She makes it look so easy!

Malakin, I've seen that video and it's great. In fact, that's how I did mine. What I'm concerned about is putting the letters on the cake itself. I just know they'll be all askew...
