I want to make a cake that I saw on CC. User told me she used an Ateco 844 tip. I look on line and it seems similar to a 1M. She hasn't responded to my PM, and I need to order this tip ASAP. I have a 1M, and would hate to rush order a tip that was almost the same. Is there a difference? I wish I could post a picture, but I don't know how. Here is the 844.

Here is the cake I want to make.

If you'll look at that ateco tip chart, it says the 844 tip is a closed star and is 3/8" ...the 1M is bigger and an open star, with much deeper points. A 1M would be more like an 827 on that chart. I'd say that the cake you want to copy was done with a 1M.

Thanks for the advice. I have a 2D closed star. Do you feel I could achieve the same results in this cake with the 2D (and forgo having to rush order the Ateco 844? )
Thanks!!
