I know you've seen the "banners" that are made from fondant, used for the greetings "Happy Birthday" and so forth, some lay on the cake board, some lean against cake, some attached to cake, etc.

How do I make one?

I was thinking of cutting the shape and using a food writer to write my greeting (since I cant pipe words to save my life)
But does it need to dry be made in advance?
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I made this banner using fondant that I let dry for a day was all, and wrote on it with a wilton edible marker. If you can get a hold of gumpaste I would suggest using that as it dries quicker and harder, then just lay it over pieces of crumpled pplastic wrap or something to get the movement if you want that look
