I just picked up a ball pan today and there are two ring things in there with the pan. Are they to balance the pans on or for something else?
Yep, exactly Be sure you pans are level on the rings; it's easy to put them into the oven and have them not be level on those rings.
I think... if I'm not mistaken the instructions tell you to place them on the rings on a cookie sheet for leveling. Don't quote me on that --it might be that someone else told me that years ago when I first used the ball pan. Placing them on a cookie sheet does not alter how they bake.
