Its the 24/7 walmart mentality I tell ya.
People are so used to walking into walmart seeing it in the cases and think that any one who bakes does the same thing.
You took the words out of my mouth - so to speak. Customers are so used to picking out a cake from a grocery store case and having "Hapy Birtday Mothr" written on it at a moments notice that they don't think about how long it may take to do a home baked and decorated work of art (complete with correctly spelled wording). I used to try to please every person who called and it meant I was up all hrs of the night on any given night to get them done. Not anymore. With the help of the many outspoken businesswomen/men on this site, I have learned to say no and leave it at that. If you don't have time, you just simply don't have time. Besides, if you do it, how will they learn to give you more notice next time?
Hands down, you win!!! Did you literally laugh out loud at this request????
LOL!!! I stumbled across this post and got really tickled. One of my office mates just this morning looks over at me and says: "I forgot you do cakes I need one for tomorrow's cake walk @ church not major just a cake with frosting". Not even taking into consideration that I have 2 other cakes for tomorrow. On top of all that, she thought I was gonna do it for free!!! Some nerve! Sorry I just had to vent.

That was my thought originally, when I told her that I was charging her she hasn't said anything else to me about it....No skin off my back. ![]()
the doughnut wedding towers are very popular here in aus at the moment especially krispy kreme usinf the cupcake towers they pile the white iced dougnuts up on them and iunstead of cutting thw cake they bite into a dougnut. i would proabbly be a bit off put given that i make weddign cakes if doughnuts werenot my most favorite food in the ENTIRE world!!!! lol!
BTW, Summernoell, how much did you charge for that topsey-turvey 30 th. birthday cake ???? Got to love complete idiots, they make us plain idiots look smart !!!
I did NOT do it! I don't remember what else was going on that weekend, but it seems like I was pretty booked. I also wouldn't have had time to get my SPS supplies, etc. But, if I had done it, I would have charged her out the wazoo for it! ![]()
