Turn A 2 Dimensional Pan Cake Into 3D

Has anyone ever tried or attempted this I want to make a 3D Curious George cake I have the Wiltonâs monkey pan but I want it to be 3D does anyone have any idea as how to make this using the Character pan and turning it into a 3D cake I guess what I'm asking is has anyone ever used a
Character and turned it into a 3 D character

Could you just bake 2 of them and then carve off the features you don't need for the back of the monkey.

Build up/block out features you don't need with bits of fondant or buttercream so that it looks right when you lay the final fondant over it or buttercream.

Then you would have to decide how to layer it and fill it bearing in mind that you would also have a back and front stuck together.

So it would be like you had a round cake with maybe 3 layers and sliced right down the middle from top to bottom.

Don't know how you would support it but with that much buttercream keeping the shape together and if it was not too high it might be okay?
