Gumball Machine (Cake Pan Sizes)...help!!!

For anyone who has made a gumball machine or anyone who can help...what is the best size pan to use for the gumball machine?? Should I use 4 6-inch cakes stacked or 8-inch pans?? Need help..TIA!!!
