Does anyone have any suggestions about how to make a cake look like cheese? I want to make one but I wasn't sure how to get the indented look of the holes on the cake. I am going to use a round cake and then make chocolate fondant mice.

I'm by no means an expert but since no one else has replied I'll give it the old college try...

You could use an ice cream scoop to make the holes -- but keep them shallow. then if you cover with fondant it will sink in there. It would be really hard to ice with BC so it seems like fondant is the way to go.

If you're really artistic you could paint the holes on with an airbrush. With the right shading it could look good.

I hope you get some better answers. I want to see this cake!

that is a great idea, i actually have a little cookie scoop that would be perfect. I couldn't decide on buttercream or fondant but I think I am going to do fondant. if I did butter cream i was going to use something like the back of the scoop to make the indentions.
