I need to make sheep figures for a baby shower cake this weekend. Does it matter if I use gumpaste or fondant? The sheep will be standing, so do I make the legs and let them dry before attaching them to the body? What can I use to support the head on the body? Sorry so many questions, thanks in advance for any help!!

Using 1/2 fondant and 1/2 gumpaste will be easier to use. This gives you a little more working time, but also allows them set up more quickly. They are also less likely to lose their shape before they dry if there is a lot of humidity or if the area is warm.

If you use the 1/2 & 1/2 method, make the legs first and then attach the body. Small pieces of spaghetti in each leg will help hold the body in place until it dries. This also keeps the sheep fully edible. Spaghetti will also work to help hold on the head.
