I have a recipe for Pumpkin cake that requires Sour Cream ... can I substitute it with yogurt (plain )? Or what can I substitute the sour cream with ?

Sure, yogurt is a great substitute for sour cream.

Sour cream and yogurt can be substituted for one another but yogurt lacks in the tangy flavor and fat content so you will get different results in both taste and texture. I prefer the sour cream to yogurt. But I dont care ofr yogurt much either.
So it might be just your taste preferences. Experiment and try them both to determine your fav!!!
