I'm going to try my hand at some cookies with edible images but I have a question. When putting edible images on cookies what icing do you frost your cookies with first? TIA

here is a pic of the ones I did for my dauthers volleyball team yesterday. I just squirted some buttercream icing on the edible image and then applied it to the sugar cookie. It worked perfectly!

I use a combo of MMF and RBC. I like the clean look of cut fondant vs. piped icing. I attach the images with clear vanilla brushed on the fondant.

I use RI on my cookies, and the images can be placed directly onto the RI while its still wet. I have also waited for it to dry completely and then very lightly brushed the surface with water to get the image to stick on.
