is there anyone out there from Cape Cod Ma that has thier own home based cake business that could point me in the right direction ? I would love to have my own business , but do it legally .

What are the requirements needed and the first steps to take ?

I will be meeting with the BOH later this week .

If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it. icon_biggrin.gif

Sorry, I'm not in MA, but usually the process is similar in States that do allow home baking.

They often require separate storage, may require a separate refrigerator (may not need to be a full size)

They want to see a dishwashing set up-drainer, detergent sanitizer(bleach)

They also may require you attend food handler classes

Usually, no pets are allowed in the home

No carpets in the kitchen (surfaces must be easily cleanable)

You pay your fee for the inspection, and your are good to go. You may be prohibited from using perishable fillings/frostings and you may not be allowed other perishables like cheesecakes or cream pies.

There are lots of MA homebakers here. If you go to the first page here Kellym was kind enough to post the links to all the states that allow this just click the link. Also I'm sure someone from MA will help out too
