i am making my first fondant covered cake and my first grooms cake! Talk about intimidating. The cake is an XBox 360. He wants a wireless controller to go along with the console. Any tips on covering a controller wtih fondant to get the top covered as well as the bottom of the is the pic he wants me to attempt to reproduce.

Does it have to encompass the WHOLE controller? Could it tuck under far enough to not be seen? I have never done a pillow cake, but any many ways it seems like covering the controller with fondant would be similar to covering a pillow. There are instructions on this site in the article sections. Maybe they will help.

I found this in the gallery. May be worth asking for advice on how to do it.
I would advice practicing covering a small cake before you attempt this just to get used to handling fondant. Also don't roll it too thin else it will tear and show up all the little imperfections.
I really hope it goes well for you.

What about making the seam of the fondant the "seam" of the controller?? I don't know about the X box but my hubby's PlayStation has a seam in the plastic that goes all the way around....Just a thought...Good luck!! icon_smile.gif
