Am trying to figure out the best way to transfer a pattern I found in a tatoo book to the sides of my cake so I can paint it on. I've seen ideas about edible markes, gel seems really messy...any other ideas? Trying not to have to redo it 6-7 times before I figure it out! Fondant gets expensive!

Thanks! cakemommync

How about placeing some plastic wrap or acetate (sp?) over the pic & outline it in icing or piping gel then carefully place it against the cake?

Another method: putt the pic on a piece of styro; poking holes all over the outline w/a needle/pin, then push that against the cake & rub. That should make slight indents on the fondant.

Still another option: I've heard some people draw very lightly w/a pencil right on the fondant.

Hope one of these methods will help you.
