I contacted her and the ribbon around the base was hand woven by a florist in New Zealand. She said that some of their handcraft stores have flax ribbon, but wasn't sure where I could find it here.

I'm wondering 1. If anyone knows where I can order it, get it, etc. or 2. If anyone can think of a suitable alternative.

I"ve looked all over for a "woven ribbon", but came up with nothing.... how about something like a hat band ? I don't know whare you would look though.....

hat band...that's a good idea. This is hard.
